Q. What is the difference between Janina Optima Mouth Rinse and Janina Liquid Toothpaste Spray?

A. The Liquid Toothpaste Spray is an alternative to the Opale Whitening toothpaste. It is a toothpaste in a spray format. It contains virtually the same ingredients as the toothpaste except for the gum ingredient that takes the formulation to a paste consistency. It is designed to be used with or without a toothbrush.

The Optima Mouth Rinse is a rinse – to be used after brushing but enhancing the brushing results. It contains the core formulation of the Janina family of products including the revolutionary Bromaine Complex.

Q. Does Janina Sensitive and Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste and the Liquid Toothpaste Spray really whiten and protect teeth?

A. Janina Sensitive and EXtra Strength Whitening Toothpaste and the Liquid Toothpaste Spray contain 14 active ingredients, the Bromaine Complex (containing natural fruit enzymes) and multi-peroxides which are used to produce the legal amount of hydrogen peroxide - at 0.1%, which no other toothpaste can provide.

It is this unique formulation of 14 active ingredients together with the patented Bromaine Complex which is able to facilitate the whitening effect of 3% hydrogen peroxide but maintain a concentration of 0.1% hydrogen peroxide.

Whitening of teeth will become noticeable after six weeks of use. Some of the active ingredients included are triclosan and zinc citrate which combat plaque micro-organisms and gingivitis, the Bromaine Complex to remove intrinsic and extrinsic staining, whiten teeth and to prevent halitosis, with optimum fluoride levels to help prevent decay and to protect gums. One third of the toothpaste is made of calcium and phosphate, to remineralise areas of carious lesions.

Q. What is the difference between Janina Sensitive and Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste?

A. The Extra Strength Toothpaste is an "Extra Strength" version of the Sensitive formulation. It contains more enzymes for the removal of nicotine, caffeine, red wine and biological age staining. It also offers faster safe whitening and breath control.

The consistency is thicker due to an increased amount of dicalcium phosphate. Like the Opale Whitening Toothpaste and the Liquid Toothpaste Spray, the Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste is also a non-abrasive product.

Q. Will whitening harm my teeth?

A. Janina Sensitive and Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste and the Liquid Toothpaste Spray are the only safe way to whiten teeth, as they have a non-abrasive formulation and rely on component bleaching rather than abrasion to achieve the whitening results.

In these abrasive toothpaste's it is the silica which will give teeth a whiter, brighter appearance. In actual fact the silica acts like sandpaper and rubs the protective enamel away, making teeth more susceptible to dental caries.

The Janina Sensitive Whitening Toothpaste has a RDA (Relative Dentine Abrasion) of 20 and the Janina Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste has a RDA of 30, the RDA of the Liquid Toothpaste Spray is 0.

The RDA of other well-known oral health care products ranges between 80-180, acting like an emery board to teeth.
